By Tate Miller | The Center Square An education group has uncovered that the second largest school district in California promotes 29 different youth sexual orientations and nine gender identities in its “Equity and Belonging” website’s resources, with the website also stating a commitment to “dismantling systems of oppression.” Senior director of Strategic Initiatives at Defending Education Paul Runko told The Center Square that San Diego Unified School District “is telling families that Title IX mandates gender-identity policies, despite the Biden administration’s 2024 Title IX rewrite being vacated nationwide.” Defending Education is an organization dedicated to restoring schools “at all levels from activists imposing harmful agendas” and recently exposed the San Diego Unified policy. Paul Runko told The Center Square: “One of the concerns with introducing highly politicized materials in schools is that it can create the impression that there is only one acceptable way to …

In an interview with the German weekly Die Tagespost on December 18, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa discussed the situation in the Holy Land. Key points: - Since the October ceasefire, active fighting has stopped, but living conditions remain unchanged. - In Bethlehem, things are somewhat different because of Christmas. We celebrated in a normal and festive way, with lights and music, so people could breathe again for a moment. - In Gaza and the West Bank, however, living conditions remain very difficult socially, economically, and politically. Ninety Percent of Christian Families Are Confessionally Mixed - Ecumenism is a pastoral, not a theological, issue. - We must continue on the path toward Christian unity, knowing that it is a long journey that cannot be rushed. - We need a common voice on global issues such as peace, justice, and human dignity. - Perhaps one day we will even share a common calendar, but we must take our time. - While some priests on both sides tend toward excessive …More
The Diocese of Clifton is still funding an adoption charity that actively promotes same-sex adoption, years after the Church withdrew from adoption services over the same issue.
The Diocese of Clifton in England, continues to support a charity that actively promotes adoption by homosexual couples, despite the Church’s formal withdrawal from adoption services because of this issue. The 'Clifton Children’s Society' (CCS), formerly the 'Catholic Children’s Society' of the Diocese of Clifton, became a secular organisation in 2008. New regulations required adoption agencies to place children with homosexuals. While many Catholic agencies closed or cut ties, the Diocese of Clifton continued to support CCS financially and institutionally. The charity remains listed in the diocesan directory and is scheduled for an optional collection on 11 January 2026. It also receives funding through parish collections and diocesan schools. CCS openly promotes homosexuals adoption, stating that over half of its children were given to homosexuals - more than double the national average. Former Bishop Declan Lang of Clifton continued for years as the honorary president of CCS. Diocesan …More

During the Christmas Eve (“Christmette”) service broadcast by ARD from St. Maria church in Stuttgart, an artistic installation replaced the traditional Baby Jesus figure. The installation, by artist Milena Lorek, depicted an adult human form wrapped in a translucent membrane, intended to represent the vulnerability of the Incarnation. The mass’s theme was “So viel Mensch war nie!” (“Never was there so much man!”), explained by celebrant Thomas Steiger as emphasizing Jesus’ humanity. The display sparked widespread backlash on social media, with many viewers calling it offensive or inappropriate for a Christmas service.

Speaking to the Vatican’s top ranks, Leo paid tribute to his “beloved predecessor,” who died earlier this year, praising Francis as a “prophetic voice” whose “pastoral style” put mercy
In his Christmas address to the Roman Curia today, Pope Leo XIV praised his "beloved predecessor, Pope Francis": "His prophetic voice, his pastoral style and his rich magisterium have marked the Church's journey in recent years." Francis encouraged "us" [pluralis majestatis] "to place God’s mercy at the centre, give renewed emphasis to evangelisation and be a joyful church that welcomes all and is attentive to the poorest". Furthermore, Leo XIV warned that in the Church there are "forces of division may be at play": "We can fall into the temptation of swinging between two opposite extremes: uniformity that fails to value differences or, on the other hand, the exacerbation of different viewpoints instead of seeking communion." Leo XIV wants to "build the communion of Christ in a synodal Church". And: “When dealing with faith, liturgy, morality, or other matters, one risks falling victim to rigidity or ideology.” He does not see his role as a gardener "who tends to his own plot", but as …More
The Vatican is facing a legal challenge at the European Court of Human Rights over the suspension of pensions for two former Vatican bank officials, Paolo Cipriani and Massimo Tulli. Both were convicted by Vatican courts for financial mismanagement and lost their pension payments, which they argue they are still entitled to receive. Although Vatican courts rejected their claims, they appealed to the Strasbourg court—a move seen less as a viable legal path, since it lacks jurisdiction over the Vatican, and more as an effort to draw international attention to the dispute.
Among the various legal troubles inherited with the previous pontificate, Pope Leo XIV now faces a lawsuit at the European Court of Human Rights because the Vatican allegedly did not respect a fundamental right of a retiree: the inalienability of the pension accrued by the worker. The lawsuit was filed by two former managers of the IOR, Paolo Cipriani and Massimo Tulli, both convicted by the Vatican court for mismanagement. The Vatican bank, which should have paid them the pension allowance, albeit reduced by a third due to the conviction, as happens in all national systems, for example, even in Italy, stopped doing so overnight. Naturally, Cipriani and Tulli initially appealed to the Vatican courts, which have often not shone for transparency, suing the Pope's bank and winning both in the first and second instances with two favorable rulings that sided with the two former employees. In those favorable rulings, it was highlighted that a key principle from the Italian system was being …More
In 2021, Bishop Hicks announced David Salvato as his new Chancellor for the Diocese of Joliet: In late April 2021, Bishop Ronald A. Hicks announced the appointment of David Salvato as chancellor for the Diocese of Joliet. As chancellor, Salvato will advise Bishop Hicks and diocesan officials on issues related to canon law. He will also record the ecclesiastical acts, decrees and dispensations issued by Bishop Hicks, as well as oversee the diocesan archives. Salvato has worked since 2011 as a canon lawyer for the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In that role, he led two teams that oversaw the investigation of nearly 200 marriage annulment cases each year. He also has taught at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California, as an adjunct professor; worked as an English translator for L’Osservatore Romano, the daily newspaper of the Vatican City State; and served as the director of the marriage and family life program at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Centennial …
Monsignor Ronald Hicks - Bishop of Joliet and soon to become the new Archbishop of New York - first met Pope Francis on 29 June 2015. After Francis’s death, he wrote about that meeting on Diocoliet.org on 5 May. Back then, he was standing in Saint Peter’s Basilica with Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich. Cupich had been installed as Archbishop of Chicago in November 2014. In January 2015, he appointed Rev. Hicks as his Vicar General and in 2018 his auxiliary bishop. “Now Is Your Chance” In June 2015, Archbishop Cupich asked his Vicar General in the Basilica, “Have you ever met the Pope?” When Hicks replied, “No,” Cupich grasped his arm and said with a smile, “Well, now is your chance.” He led Hicks briskly toward Pope Francis and introduced him in Italian, saying, “Holy Father, this is Ron Hicks, my Vicar General, and he speaks Spanish.” Francis turned to Hicks and began speaking in Spanish. Hicks recalls: “From that moment forward, whenever we encountered one another, we spoke …More
Pope Leo XIV is expected to appoint the handsome Bishop Ronald Hicks, 58, of Joliet, Illinois, as the 11th Archbishop of New York, replacing Cardinal Timothy Dolan. The rumour was spread by the Spanish-language outlet ReligionDigital.org on December 15 and confirmed by several journalists citing “independent sources.” The appointed is expected for December 18. Liberal journalist Christopher Hale was told: “This is a Chicago priest, advocated by Cardinal Cupich, appointed by a Chicago pope.” Hale describes Bishop Hicks as “more progressive than Cardinal Dolan.” Spiritual hero is Óscar Romero When he began as Bishop of Joliet in 2020, he wore a small photo of Archbishop Óscar Romero of San Salvador on the lapel of his jacket. Romero is a hero of politicized liberation theology. Monsignor Hicks had served as a missionary in El Salvador (2005-2010). On the face of it, not encouraging. We must pray, for the Church's sake, New York's sake, and for the same of his own soul that he will be more open to the Holy Spirit than his mentor, the manipulative and conniving Cupich.
The Diocese of Chiavari in Italy has published a pastoral booklet presenting homosexual couples and civilly remarried divorcees as legitimate expressions of “Christian family.” Produced by the diocesan family ministry, the initiative prioritizes a subjective notion of love over Catholic doctrine on marriage and sexuality. The booklet includes testimonies from same-sex couples and irregular unions portrayed as fully integrated into Church life, prompting criticism for contradicting Church teaching. The bishop has not publicly addressed the issue, which critics see as part of a broader pastoral drift toward normalizing relationships contrary to Catholic moral doctrine.
In December, the Family Pastoral Service of the Diocese of Chiavari, Italy, published a booklet titled Non c’è un amore più grande (“There Is No Greater Love”). The diocese is run by Bishop Giampio Devasini. The publication presents a collection of autobiographical “Christian testimonies” of homosexuals and adulterers. Among the homosexuals are Marco and Michele: "We have been together since 2001." The two homosexuals are increasingly integrated into parish life, including participation in the parish choir and diocesan pastoral activities: "What was previously set aside because it was uncomfortable and difficult to testify to has now become a reason for commitment, to bring our experiences to others." They blame their lifestyle on God: "I believe that the ultimate goal of our work is to break down those walls of division that have always hindered the active participation of people belonging to the broad sphere of homoaffectivity in the life of the Church, under the love of the one …More

Cardinal Baltazar Enrique Porras Cardozo, emeritus of Caracas, was stopped from leaving Venezuela on December 10. Authorities at Simón Bolívar International Airport annulled his passport as he prepared to board a flight to Madrid. Officials informed him he was under a travel ban, confiscated his passport, and detained him for about two hours before sending him back to his residence. He was escorted even to go to the bathroom. Authorities claimed “non-compliance with travel regulations” and required Cardinal Porras to sign a document confirming he could not travel. The cardinal reported that when he attempted to photograph the document, he was threatened with arrest. He also said an officer told him he appeared as “deceased” in the government system, which was used to justify the passport cancellation. The incident follows growing tension between the Venezuelan government and the Church. Weeks earlier, Cardinal Porras had described the situation in Venezuela as “morally unacceptable …More
More pornographic texts of pro-homosexual Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, 63, have emerged. ElWanderer.com published today new quotes from different books. The disgusting texts are more of the same soft-porn style as published by Tucho in Heal Me with Your Mouth: The Art of Kissing, 1995, and in The Mystical Passion: Spirituality and Sensuality, 1998. The latter is about male and female orgasms. The newly discovered books show that the first two were not a youthful mistake, but that this erotic mindset was constant. KISS: Your mouth sings / without using words. Aged 39, Tucho wrote in his 2002 book ¿Por qué no termino de sanarme? (“Why can’t I finish healing myself?”), on page 10: “A body can make an impact if it wears the right clothes, clothes that awaken sensuality by accentuating interesting shapes, depending on the body type. The sensuality of tanned shoulders and arms is accentuated by wearing a T-shirt. Elegance is highlighted by concealing fat with a black vest and white …More
Cardinal José Cobo Is an Active Homosexual, a Spanish TV host claims publicly: On 20 November, Federico Jiménez Losantos, a well-known Spanish radio host and political commentator, said on his show: "If you see a bishop, examine him. Some of them have boyfriends who are involved in all kinds of trouble, yet they go around preaching the gospel. My goodness, I don't even want to think about it. I'm referring to Cobo, the bishop of Madrid." Jiménez Losantos didn't present factual information. He made this insinuation after spending several minutes explaining that the Catholic hierarchy is cowardly, treacherous, and aligned with the government.
Leo XIV on his visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul: "But who said I didn't pray? People claimed I didn't pray, but I had already responded to that on the plane: I mentioned a book and said that it may well be that you are praying even at this moment, do you understand? The nature of prayer depends on the moment and the place. Personally, I prefer to pray in a Catholic church, before the Blessed Sacrament; but if this moment caused such a stir, it seems a little strange to me."
Leone XIV manda in tilt i …
On 19 November, Hong Kong Cardinal Joseph Zen, 93, wrote on his blog, OldYosef.HkCatholic.com, about the history and dangers of the Synod. He recalls that Francis "regrettably" restructured this institution of bishops to include lay members. Thus, it became a hybrid "consultative assembly of the baptised", convened under the name of Synod. However, Cardinal Zen is more concerned that the central leaders of the Synod clearly sought to advance significant reforms to Church doctrine and discipline. He accuses the synod leaders of wasting meeting time with childish "conversations in the Spirit", and of avoiding formal discussion as much as possible. Meanwhile, a large group of facilitators, experts, secretaries and undersecretaries controlled the assembly. Regarding the final document, Cardinal Zen notes that Francis endorsed it as his "papal teaching". Francis urged everyone to read, understand and implement it 'on a trial basis', with the outcomes of the entire experiment to be reviewed …More
President Donald Trump became the first U.S. President to issue a statement to Catholics on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception: Today, I recognize every American celebrating December 8 as a Holy Day honoring the faith, humility, and love of Mary, mother of Jesus and one of the greatest figures in the Bible. On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Catholics celebrate what they believe to be Mary’s freedom from original sin as the mother of God. She first entered recorded history as a young woman when, according to Holy Scripture, the Angel Gabriel greeted her in the village of Nazareth with news of a miracle: “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you,” announcing that “you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” In one of the most profound and consequential acts of history, Mary heroically accepted God’s will with trust and humility: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Mary’s decision forever …
