(LifeSiteNews) — Detroit Archbishop Edward Weisenburger has said that “sins against creation are among the very serious sins.”
During a synodal “listening session” on the environment at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit on September 30, Weisenburger delivered the opening remarks, in which he called on Catholics to “cooperate with creation.”
According to the Detroit Catholic, he criticized the Trump administration for cutting tax incentives for U.S.-made electric vehicles, implying that gas-powered cars would damage creation. He said that Catholics must follow Pope Leo XIV and Pope Francis in emphasizing the environment and creation.

Lifesite's suggestion that the archbishop equated opposition to EV subsidies with grave sin is an inference, not an established fact.
Archbishop presents sexual morality as an “ideal” instead of “rules to follow” at current Vatican meeting.
At Leo XIV’s meeting marking the tenth anniversary of Amoris Laetitia, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe of Perth, Australia called for “a shift in the Church’s culture” in his October 9 address.
Discussing contemporary attitudes toward sexuality, he stated that “the concept of a necessary link between sexual activity and procreation, […] is no longer widely understood or accepted.”
Archbishop Costelloe advocated presenting the Church’s theology of marital intimacy as “an ideal worth striving for rather than as a list of rules and regulations to be followed.”
He repeated his point: “Presenting ideals to work towards rather than rules to follow is more likely to win people over and enable them to see the values which underpin those rules and regulations.”
Monsignor Costelloe stated that young couples living together before marriage are “falling short of the ideal of Chistian marriage,”…

Leo XIV appoints Mexican
Bishop who said after ‘Fiducia supplicans’: “We bless everyone”.
On September 21, Pope Leo XIV has promoted Monsignor Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong as Archbishop of Puebla de los Ángeles, Mexico.
He was born on January 3, 1958, in Mérida, Archdiocese of Yucatán and ordained a priest on January 12, 1988, for that Archdiocese.
In 2009, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Papantla and received episcopal ordination in December. On May 2, 2012, he became diocesan bishop of Papantla.
Francis brought Patrón Wong to Rome. On September 21, 2013, he became Secretary for Seminaries at the Congregation for the Clergy.
“Don’t Define Seminarians by Homosexuality”
Asked in 2014 by LaStampa.it, about homosexual seminarians and support of a “gay culture”, Monsignor Patrón Wong replied evasively that sexual maturity is one component of broader personal maturity: “We cannot judge the state/existence in which a person comes before us.”
And: “It is important … not to …
The article CLAIMS that Patrón Wong publicly came out as gay, but no other credible report corroborates this extraordinary news. A public coming-out by a sitting Catholic archbishop would very likely have generated substantial coverage in Catholic, Mexican, and international media. Given the absence of corroboration, the claim appears very likely to be false.

Pope Leo XIV’s prayer intention for the month of September is for the care of water. “Water is a symbol of your grace and love that renews us through Baptism. We beg forgiveness that it has been turned into a commodity, forgetting that it is a universal gift, a right without borders," the Holy Father expressed in his prayer released September 1 on the occasion of the Season of Creation. He added a plea to become “pilgrims of the essential, capable of living simply, denouncing waste and pollution, and defending the right of every person to drink without fear and without inequality.”
