Commissioner for Padre Pio's Hospital: Leo XIV has established a Steering and Supervisory Commission to address the long-running financial troubles of Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the southern Italian hospital founded by Padre Pio. The body, chaired by the Vatican's economy prefect Maximino Caballero Ledo, holds full operational powers and reports directly to the Pope. It will oversee efforts to stabilise the hospital, which carries debts of around €108 million to suppliers.
Austrian Bishop Rides Scooter Through Church During Confirmation: On May 24, Bishop Ägidius Zsifkovics of Eisenstadt rode an electric scooter through a church in Neckenmarkt during a Confirmation Eucharist. The scene was captured by a photographer and shared by ORF Burgenland on Instagram. The bishop explained that he wanted to make his sermon "relevant" to the young congregation, having been told that the children in the area are avid scooter riders. By incorporating the vehicle into the service, he hoped to use it as a means of explaining the Holy Spirit in a way that would resonate with them.

Stupid gimmick. Reminds me of the priest decades ago who rode a forklift down the aisle on Easter as a way of illustrating the Resurrection. But the message is really that the Church is for knuckleheads.
Swiss Bishops Back Ban on "Conversion Therapy": The Swiss Bishops' Conference (SBK) has expressed support for proposed federal legislation criminalising conversion therapy targeting homosexuals. In a statement, the SBK "firmly" rejected such measures, calling them incompatible with "a pastoral mission founded on acceptance, truthfulness, and the protection of the individual."

Abbé Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, who will be consecrated a bishop of the FSSPX on July 1, celebrated Mass at the altar of Saint Pius X in St. Peter’s Basilica on 9 August 2014. The Mass was authorized by the Papal Basilica, and he used vestments made available from the basilica sacristy.
Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller spoke to kath.net on May 26 about the episcopal consecrations on July 1 by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X. Main quotes.. No sympathy for the FSSPX “They understand themselves as an emergency community that will remain at a distance until the millions of Catholics who have fallen into Modernism, thousands of bishops and priests, and the current Pope return to the Church which the Society of St. Pius X preserves as the holy remnant of the one true Catholic Church.” Can the Entire Church Have Fallen Into Error? “From a purely human and theological perspective, it cannot be the case that the two thousand bishops and all the popes who have gathered at the Council have been mistaken on dogmatic issues or have deviated from the apostolic tradition, with the exception of a single bishop who, through illegal episcopal ordinations alone, ensures the Church’s continued existence” No one has a right to become a bishop “Nobody has a claim to episcopal …Daplü
The cardinal is sending a coded message. Read it from the last point backwards to understand what he believes: “All orthodox Catholics rightly say that the supposed blessings of homosex couples or couples living in other irregular relationships are objectively sinful.” So he is saying, the Pope, the Curia, and the vast majority of bishops are not orthodox. The SSPX and a minority of bishops are the remaining orthodox. “The Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X would have to explain the difference between its own position and Luther’s statement during the Leipzig Disputation: ‘Even councils can err!’” The SSPX agrees with Pope John XXIII and Paul VI. The council was pastoral and made no dogmatic definitions. The disagreement is that the Pope, Curia and most of the bishops think that Vatican II overrode the dogmatic definitions of all prior councils – i.e. those prior councils had erred. It is only the SSPX who holds that the prior councils and pre Vatican II popes did not err. “An …Daplü
