A man entered the church, went straight to the sanctuary, removed the cross from the altar and threw it to the floor. He then knocked over a vase and used the cross to force open the doors of three confessionals, some dating back to the early 19th century. Nothing was stolen; the damage was confined to religious furnishings and symbols.
