Bishop Johan Bonny of Antwerp, Belgium, is pressing ahead with his plan to ordain married men in 2028.
Several married candidates are already being prepared for possible ordination. “I trust that an appropriate regulation can be found by the end of the synodal process in autumn 2028,” Bishop Bonny told Herder Korrespondenz, according to katholisch.de (September 28).

Spanish Conference Convenes Priests To Address Their Ministry In “A More Synodal Church”
The Spanish Episcopal Conference will bring the application of synodality to the concrete exercise of priestly ministry in a national gathering convened for next November 30 in Madrid. Under the title “Presbyters: Servants of Communion,” archpriests, episcopal vicars, and clergy delegates will reflect on the role of the priest within “a more synodal Church” and on the so-called “differentiated co-responsibility” among the various vocations.
