Leo XIV’s Secretary Was a Disciple of Accused Sexual Abuser Lute

Rev. Edgard Rimaycuna, 36, Leo XIV’s personal secretary, was a disciple of Father Eleuterio Vásquez, called “Lute”. This former priest from Chiclayo is accused of sexually abusing girls aged 9 and 11.
The information is revealed in the book The Shepherd and the Wolves, as reported by InfoVaticana. The book was written by Peruvian author Santiago Roncagliolo and is sympathetic toward Leo XIV.
Lute was investigated so poorly under Bishop Robert Prevost of Chiclayo that the case remained unresolved. After becoming Pope, Leo XIV granted Lute’s request for laicization in September 2025. This brought the canonical proceedings to an end, thus avoiding a guilty verdict.
Close Collaboration Between Prevost and Lute
In recounting the relationship between Bishop Prevost and Father Lute - at the time the diocese’s most popular priest and promoter of devotion to the Child of the Miracle of Eten - Roncagliolo writes:
“Fighting together brought the bishop and the priest very close. Father Lute informed …Zêde

Spanish Bishop Threatens Resignation Over Virgin’s Place at Opus Dei Sanctuary

Bishop Ángel Javier Pérez Pueyo of Barbastro-Monzón, Spain, has said he would offer his resignation rather than sign a settlement under which the statue of Our Lady of the Angels of Torreciudad remains permanently at the Opus Dei sanctuary.
The bishop drew his red line in a public letter on 31 August, ahead of the image’s return to its ancient hermitage on 5 September for the 47th Pilgrimage of the Virgins of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe.
That return is temporary. It has been authorized by Archbishop Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, the pontifical commissioner for Torreciudad.
After the pilgrimage, the image is due to return to the sanctuary.
Bishop Pérez Pueyo’s threat concerns the final settlement: he refuses to accept an arrangement under which the statue remains there permanently and returns to the hermitage only on special occasions.
He would "never sign such an unlikely act of plundering your dignity," he wrote, adding he would instead offer his resignation.
The dispute has effectively been …Zêde

A Bishop is willing to resign over the location of a sacred image, but not over ongoing sacrilegious practices that continue in so many churches in one's diocese, abuses of the Blessed Sacrament, LGBTQ processions and Masses, etc.. Where is the like zeal of any Bishop for the such causes?

"May your Spirit make us pilgrims of the essential" - Leo XIV's Prayer for the Month of September

The Pope’s Prayer intention for the month of September is to pray for care of water: “Lord of Life, you have given us the gift of water, source of fruitfulness, freshness, and hope. It quenches thirst, nourishes the earth, and heals wounds. We thank you because it is also a symbol of your grace and love that renews us through baptism. Today, we ask you to teach us to safeguard it with gratitude, justice, and responsibility. Forgive us for turning it into a commodity, forgetting that it is a universal gift, a right without borders, meant for all your children. We see with pain, so many brothers and sisters, who lack clean water, who walk for miles to find it, who become ill due to its scarcity. May your Spirit make us pilgrims of the essential, able to live with simplicity, denouncing waste and pollution, defending the right of every brother and sister to drink without fear and without inequality. May our care for water, be a sign of love for the Creator, and a commitment to the lives of …Zêde

"The Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism has been tapped by the Government of Israel as part of its latest outreach to American Catholics"

EWTN is reporting the so-called “Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism” (CCAA) has been “tapped by the Government of Israel as part of its latest outreach to American Catholics.” A high-ranking Israeli official, Tammy Ben-Haim, met in May with the head of the CCAA Simone Rizkallah in Washington, DC. Rizkallah previously received funding from billionaire, Jewish activist Paul Singer and is currently affiliated with the “Tikvah Fund.” Rizkallah said in the article Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wanted to “design a trip specifically for Catholic leaders, [so] it made sense that they would reach out to us.”

In fight against antisemitism, Israel steps up U.S. Catholic outreach

JERUSALEM — The Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism (CCAA), a lay-led U.S. organization established in late 2023 that “affirms the right of the Jewish people to live safely and securely in their ancestral homeland” as well as recognizes that “modern Israel is essential to that security,” has emerged as a leading resource in the Government of Israel’s outreach to American Catholics, who constitute the country’s largest single religious constituency. Tammy Ben-Haim, head of religious and interfaith affairs at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told EWTN news that a May meeting in Washington, D.C., with CCAA Director Simone Rizkallah, a first-generation American of Egyptian-Armenian descent, convinced her of the importance of engaging the organization and its supporters. “I was so impressed by Simone and the vision she had for the organization to combat antisemitism,” including CCAA’s network of key influencers throughout the American Catholic world, Ben-Haim said. From Post tam diuturnas to Dignitatis humanae
Pius VII — Post tam diuturnas, April 29, 1814
“By the very fact that freedom of all forms of worship without distinction is established, truth is confused with error
, and the Church, the holy and immaculate Bride of Christ, outside of which there is no salvation, is placed on the same level as heretical sects and even the perfidy of the Jews.
Moreover, by promising favor and support to the sects of heretics and to their ministers, one tolerates and favors not only their persons, but also their errors.
This is implicitly the disastrous and ever deplorable heresy which St. Augustine mentions in these words:
“It maintains that all heretics are on the right path and speak the truth,” an absurdity so monstrous that I cannot believe that any sect actually professes it.”

Continuing his catechetical series on Vatican II, reflecting now on the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, Gaudium et spes, Pope Leo XIV says: “This Document focuses on the Church’s pastoral responsibility to engage with the contemporary world, sharing in its joys and sorrows, and calls for a commitment to conversion, bearing witness to Christ’s work, and advocating for the poor and marginalized. The Church is also to be attentive to the signs of the times, interpreting them in the light of the Gospel, thereby addressing pressing issues such as the technological progress that benefits only some and the persistence of widespread poverty. In our own day, marked by profound change and much injustice, each of us, then, is called to play our part in welcoming and listening to the deepest questions and longings of the human heart, making present to all the merciful love of Christ our Savior.”

A Traditional Latin Mass actually took place in a private home in Hanoi in early August 2026, celebrated by a visiting priest. Young Vietnamese Catholics attended using bilingual missals. There are small organized communities of young Catholics interested in the old Mass, including one led by Joseph Christopher Nguyen Thien Tuan Hoang. Participants are mainly in their 20s and 30s.

Young Vietnamese Catholics are rediscovering the Latin Mass

On a Sunday morning in Hanoi, a private home falls silent as the sanctuary bell rings. In the living room, temporarily transformed into a chapel, a simple altar has been carefully prepared. Surrounded by clouds of incense, a visiting priest begins the Traditional Latin Mass. Gregorian chanting fills the room before prayers begin in Latin. Most of the congregation follows with bilingual missals, carefully turning each page as the liturgy unfolds. The scene could easily belong to another century. Instead, it is unfolding in modern Vietnam. Even more surprising than the liturgy itself are the faces in the congregation. Most worshippers are in their twenties or thirties. They grew up attending the post-Vatican II Mass in Vietnamese. Many had never encountered the Traditional Latin Mass until they were adults. Yet today they form the backbone of Vietnam's small but growing traditionalist movement. Their story challenges one of the most common assumptions about Catholic traditionalism: that …

Francesco Capozza of IlTempo.it, who lives in a homosexual civil union, has reported that a group of conservative cardinals met at Cardinal Burke’s residence before the 2025 conclave and decided to block Pietro Parolin and shift a bloc of roughly 20–25 votes toward Robert Francis Prevost. Pro-homosexual Marco Felipe Perfetti counters on SilereNonPossum.it that Capozza’s conclave reconstructions are “fanciful.” He points to a record of Capozza claims subsequently contradicted by reality: the anticipated appointment of Di Tolve to Chioggia, expectations surrounding Pietro Parolin’s election as pope, and an alleged rupture in relations between the Holy See and France supposedly caused by Leo XIV’s hostility toward Emmanuel Macron - “all nonsense reported by Capozza and promptly disproved by the facts”.
