The book was written by Peruvian author Santiago Roncagliolo and is sympathetic toward Leo XIV. Bishop Ángel Javier Pérez Pueyo of Barbastro-Monzón, Spain, has said he would offer his resignation rather than sign a settlement under which the statue of Our Lady of the Angels of Torreciudad remains permanently at the Opus Dei sanctuary. The bishop drew his red line in a public letter on 31 August, ahead of the image’s return to its ancient hermitage on 5 September for the 47th Pilgrimage of the Virgins of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe. EWTN is reporting the so-called “Coalition of Catholics Against Antisemitism” (CCAA) has been “tapped by the Government of Israel as part of its latest outreach to American Catholics.” A high-ranking Israeli official, Tammy Ben-Haim, met in May with the head of the CCAA Simone Rizkallah in Washington, DC. Rizkallah previously received funding from billionaire, Jewish activist Paul Singer and is currently affiliated with the “Tikvah Fund.” Rizkallah said in the article Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wanted to “design a trip specifically for Catholic leaders, [so] it made sense that they would reach out to us.”
