But it didn't occur to him that this is precisely the problem with the secularised Novus Ordo. He added another truism: "An aberration, for example, would be a liturgy enslaved to rubricism, which does not promote union with God". In fact, the rubrics (i.e. the instructions on how a liturgy is to be celebrated) are so precise and detailed that they relieve the priest from being forced to be a showman who has to make up the course of what is to follow, focusing on the audience rather than on God. The rubrics carry the priest along so that he can concentrate fully on the "union of man with God". Their faith was attacked from all sides, priests who came out from the seminaries poorly formed with what seemed like a different faith, leaders in the church that were ill-equipped by life to deal with the child abuse scandals and a constant bombardment of left-wing anti-catholic propaganda. Very few made it with their faith intact in 1987 a law was passed that every radio station had to have 10 per cent of their programs dedicated to current affairs. This meant a 5-10 min "news" update every hour. A local radio station can't produce that much content by itself so it naturally will follow the lead of RTE which was originally a very conservative station.
