Suicide is a "marvellous possibility"
The founder of the Swiss right-to-die organisation, Dignitas, has defended the practice of allowing psychiatric patients as well as terminally ill people to kill themselves at his clinic near Zurich.

I think that when someone kills themselves they have terrible regrets afterwards. We know death is not the end. I always pray for those that did this. I feel they need so much prayer. - Rene

Many people, most of them, commit suicide when they believe that they have been abandoned by God, and that they are the least of men. For, however, dark the night may be, God is very near them, but they do not feel His presence any more. Then it is as if God no longer existed. He is in fact, for the moment, no longer perceived by them. But they must nevertheless imitate the sufferrings of Christ, chiefly those who have been called by Him to suffer greatly. There are many who then even believe that they are perhaps no longer normal. But that is the trick of the devil. Because then people give up much more easily, because they are no longer understood by others. This is the triumph of the evil one. Because he wants all of us dead, and surely without time to make reparation for our sins and others.
We must suffer in union with the Blessed Virgin and with all the renunciation she endured during her lifetime, and unite our sufferrings with the terrible sufferings of Christ on the Cross and His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. They were more terrible than people think. He was crushed by the justice of God, as if He Himself had been the greatest of sinners and as if He Himself had to go to Hell. His sufferings were so intense just then that He felt completely abandoned by His Heavenly Father. This He endured for us and we must imitate Him. These sufferings have the greatest value.
