The Bishop of Oslo, Fredrik Hansen, has announced the convocation of the first diocesan synod of the Catholic Church in Oslo and has made clear from the outset which matters will remain outside discussion. “A diocesan synod is not a democratic assembly,” the prelate stated, recalling that, as bishop, he is obliged to exclude any issue contrary to the Church’s doctrine or that seeks to call it into question. Today, Leo XIV has appointed eight new members to the Vatican’s Council for the Economy. It is responsible for supervising the Holy See’s financial and administrative structures.
He confirmed Munich Cardinal Reinhard Marx as coordinator of the body.
Furthermore, Leo XIV confirmed German law professor Charlotte Kreuter-Kirchhof as vice-coordinator. She participated in the German Synodal Way, personally advocating the involvement of the faithful in episcopal selection.
