Nashville Diocese: The Baptist Fellowship at Two Rivers in Donelson, Tennessee, has sold its mega-church and 37-acre grounds to the Nashville Diocese. The diocese pays 12.5 million Dollars. It will move operations from the Catholic Center to the new location. The decision caps a 7-years-long saga that began with a lawsuit by Baptist dissidents seeking to oust then-pastor Jerry Sutton and view church financial records. Since then, total attendance has dwindled from about 2,000 to 575. Nashville Diocese is eighth in the U.S. for its growth rate for converts.

Legionaries of Christ: The Legionaries of Christ have sold their Thornwood Conference Center in Mount Pleasant for 17 Million Dollars. They had bought the place in 1996 from IBM for almost 34 Million Dollars. The Center served as the order’s headquarters and training seminary. The Legionaries are also selling their former retreat center in Mount Kisco.

New Light: Last Sunday night, the lights illuminating Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro changed to Brazil's green and yellow. The reason: Brazil is preparing to host the 2014 World Cup this June. The statue's patriotic colour shift was part of a modernization of the statue's lighting system, which coincided with the Catholic Church's 48th World Day for Social Communications.

Smartphone Blessing: Father Frédéric Lequin, a parish priest in the south-eastern French town of Notre-Dame de Bellecombe, is blessing smartphones on Pentecost Sunday. Quote: “We must remember that the blessing of communication devices is written into the tradition of the Church just like with boats, carts and all instruments of labour and animals,” Lequin told the daily Le Progrès. He says he was inspired by Nice Father Gil Florini who has been blessing electronic equipment since 2011.

Its kind of cheesy that the church is blessing phones and computers. 🥴
The church needs to be doing better things with their time than blessing phones. It sounds almost like a sacrilege to be blessings phones during the Holy Mass. At the least this is stupid, at the most a sacrilege! 🤨More
