Failure of Leadership: Kevin McKenna writes on theguardian.com that around half of the Catholic parishes in western Scotland will close in the next few years owing to a shortage of priests. McKenna calls this – quote – “the slow withering of the Catholic Church”. There are, currently, only two men training to become priests from these parts. In less than a generation, it is expected that barely 40 priests will remain. McKenna diagnosis a catastrophic failure of leadership.

His Wife Saved Him: Bishop Michael Campbell of Lancaster has forbidden married deacon Nick Donnelly to continue his blog „protectthepope.com“. The blog is known for critizing dissenters. Donnelly obeyed the bishop – and handed the website over to his wife.

Bigamy: If the Pope allows the divorced and remarried to receive Communion then this would legalize the second relationship they are living in, according to Bologna Cardinal Carlo Caffarra writing in the newspaper "Il Foglio". This way sex outside the marriage would be allowed too. But Caffarra points out that the Church has always taught that the Pope has no power to solve an existing marriage. The Cardinal calls a second marriage bigamy.

Saint Patrick or Saint Baldrick: The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises money for research into childhood cancers by shaving the heads of donors. A lot of the events happen around St. Patrick's Day. Since the first event in 2000, the Foundation has raised 127 million Dollars. There was no recognized saint named St. Baldrick. The name of the foundation is a wordplay.

So, how is the proposal to grant Communion to divorced and civilly married couples without going through a marriage tribunal going to stem the flow of broken Catholic marriages?

There NOT will be official permission of receiving sacramental communion for the married by the Church whose marriage is valid and have joined another couple civilly. The synod will awaken the conscience of a pastoral better for them, better preparation for marriage and a better accompaniment married to remain faithful.
