PRIEST MARTYR. " Woman, behold your son!" Marek Rybinski,a young Polish Catholic Priest had his last meal on Thursday, was unaccounted at time of evening and Friday morning prayers. His body with multiple stab wounds, his throat cut from ear to ear was found by police in a storage room at the Salesian founded school were he worked as administrator since September 2007. I began to translate his words - young, vibrant man, full of ideals and dreams, curious about the world, far away lands;disregarding his initial misgivings, taken by the hospitality of the nice people, overcoming his discouragement of not being able to share with them the wisdom of the good news of The Living Word except by the witness of his daily life, mundane tasks of a school administrator ( non-muslims are not allowed to teach or hold any position of authority according to sharia law);going from doubting in sense of it all to falling in love with the people in whose midst he lived, who treated him as a family - ...and it hit me : he was 33/34 years old ,the age of my oldest;he was a son of my Poland 😇 👍 ,he was a son of a mother like me and I could not help ,but wonder about the greatest love of Our Father ,Who sacrificed His Only Begotten Son to reunite us to Himself...And the Son too,had misgivings,so common to our human nature, yet in total unity with Father's Will gave His life willingly, for His love for us was greater than love of self, reason, fear of death, and so in His Death he had conquered death itself . " Oh,death, where is thy sting? " " Unless the seed falls to the ground and dies..." And this is how I choose to remember the death of a Martyr.

- I will admit honestly, that in seminarium,if I was thinking about the missions it was more in the context of adventure, than as a way of life.I was afraid, really I was afraid, when I was going to Tunesia, for many stories were told, that it was a police state, that I will not be able to leave the house too much and ,when I was posing the question for myself,if I will be able to suceed, having that vision that someone painted about Tunisia,I would say,ok,I will manage,I was going as to the war and then it came out that the reality was quite different- very nice people, lots of greetings,in the begining many conversations and the women...one can say it ,for one is not used to it,literally had attacked me with kisses, for as I got there Chris, the Pole that came there as the first one to Tunesia, was introducing me to all the teachers as I was entering the school and all of them were hugging me and kissing me and I was a little lost, for it was not an everyday situation for me,as being a priest and here ,in Poland that openess, especially from women is witheld, that tenderness and there they have no restrains of the sort;it is a priest, therefore I will not kiss him ,they don't have that way of thinking .I work with children daily, from kindergaten to sixth grade, the highest we can teach as relligious is gymnasium,we can not interact with youth as we do it in Poland. All the children in our school are muslim ,who everyday study Koran in our school and I'm posing myself a question, how is the life of the youth, for we have contact with adults and the children and with youth we do not have any contact whatsoever.Somebody in the Center had asked if we have Oratorium, but when we observe that entry to the Cathedral are controlled, the police if they see a Tunesian they talk him out of entering and are even sending away young men,so they would not enter the Cathedral.
